Teng Chen is an independent documentary filmmaker and nonfiction writer based in China, after six years of life in New York City. Her work has appeared on BBC, ABC News, Sohu Nonfiction Studio, and the like. Prior to that, she had worked as a researcher/producer for the New York Times, the Arté, the Dutch national broadcaster VPRO, and NRC Handelsblad. The documentary series she co-produced, 'Along The Banks of The Yangtze' was nominated in the Netherlands for best TV program of the year. Teng received an MA in Documentary Filmmaking from New York University and a BA in French Language and Sociology. She has traveled on foot to 20 countries worldwide. She has lived and worked in China, France, and the United States. Hometown remains to be Teng's favorite place in the world.

Becoming Mother is Teng's debut feature-length documentary.
